Terms of sale
Plain terms, in plain language. If anything here is unclear, ask before you order.
Who you're buying from
Stone & Story Gemstones, a US-based seller of loose gemstones and cabochons. Contact us at hello@stoneandstorygems.com.
Listings and accuracy
We describe every stone as accurately as we can, and we publish the measurements behind those descriptions — refractive index and specific gravity where tested, Mohs hardness, treatment status, and an identification-confidence level. Where identification is not yet certain, the listing says so.
Gemstones are natural objects. Colour can read differently under different lighting, and colour-change stones shift by their nature. We photograph each stone individually and, where a stone has that property, we say so on the listing.
One-of-a-kind availability
Most stones here are unique and exist in a quantity of one. If a stone becomes unavailable after an order is placed — for example because it sold through another channel in the same window — we refund that item in full rather than substituting something else. We will never ship a different stone than the one photographed.
Pricing and payment
Prices are in US dollars and include no hidden charges. Shipping is added at checkout, and sales tax is collected where we are required to collect it. Payment is taken at the time of order by our payment processor; we never see or store your card details.
Shipping and risk
Orders ship within 1–2 business days. Risk of loss passes to you on delivery, but if a parcel goes missing or arrives damaged, tell us — we investigate with the carrier and make it right. See the shipping and returns policies for detail.
Returns
Fourteen days on unaltered stones in their original gem jar. Custom orders and stones that have been set, drilled or altered are not returnable. Full detail in the returns policy.
What we're responsible for
Our responsibility is limited to the amount you paid for the item plus any shipping charged, and, where a stone is misidentified, the cost of returning it. We don’t accept liability for consequential losses, and nothing in these terms limits rights you have under applicable consumer law.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the state in which the seller is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
Changes
We may update these terms; the version in force for your order is the one published when you placed it.
